Dhaka, July 25: Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Monday expressed his regret on commenting MPs and bureaucrats mentioning them responsible for ‘stealing’ money from Test Relief (TR) and Food For Work (KaBiKha) projects.
On Sunday, the minister came up with the comment during a conference of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation. He said being an MP, he knew how tens of millions of taka are ‘stolen from programmes like TR and KabiKha.
A notice titled “Information Minister’s Regret” was distributed among the ministers at the end of the cabinet meeting at Secretariat on Monday where he regretted ‘any confusion or misunderstanding’ created by his comment on TR-KabiKha.
In the statement, Inu said that he meant ‘some cases of corruption’, but did not blame everyone while speaking about graft.
On Inu’s regret, prime minister Sheikh Hasina said, “A released arrow and a thrown comment cannot be returned.”
