Humiliated N’ganj headmaster shifted to DMCH

Dhaka, May 20: Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Narayanganj, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from Narayanganj on Friday noon for better treatment.

The humiliated headmaster was shifted to the DMCH from the Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital on Friday morning. He was admitted to the Ward No. 601 under Medicine Department of the DMCH.

Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, said that sub-inspector Abdur Rahman of Bandar police station in Narayanganj brought him to DMCH.

The teacher of Kalyandi area under Kolagachia union in Narayanganj district was humiliated by the local lawmaker Salim Osman in public and suspended by the school committee on allegation of hurting religious sentiment of the Muslim.

It created strong resentment among people at all levels of the society and they demanded stern action against Salim Osman MP.

Meanwhile, Salim Osman claimed that he did not force the teacher to squat holding his ears on May 13, but the ‘crazy teacher’ willingly did it after being beaten by a mob.

Later, the education ministry on Thursday dissolved the Piyar Sattar Latif High School management committee and reinstated its headmaster.

The teacher, however, rejected the lawmaker’s claim and alleged that Salim slapped him four times in the face and forced him to squat holding the ears.
