Dhaka, September 20: The High Court on Tuesday summoned Shakhipur upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and officer-in-charge (OC) Shakhipur police station over sentencing a schoolboy by a mobile court for two years` imprisonment.
A bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Ashish Ranjon Das passed the order after holding hearing on a suo moto rule on Tuesday.
The HC bench ordered them to appear before the court on September 27.
Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan drew attention to the court, following a report of an English daily.
A mobile court in Tangail has sentenced a schoolboy to two years` imprisonment under the ICT act on the charge of `threatening` a ruling Awami League lawmaker via Facebook messenger.
Executive Magistrate Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, also the upazila nirbahi officer of Sakhipur, passed the order on Saturday, a day after police detained the boy following the filing of a general diary by Anupam Shajahan Joy, lawmaker of Tangail-8 (Basail-Sakhipur) constituency.
Sabbir Shikder, a student of Protima Bonki Public High School in the upazila, was sent to Tangail district jail.
