Dhaka, October 13: Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the ensuing 20th national council of the party as a councillor of Dhaka City South.
Sources said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul will also join the national council as the councillors of Dhaka City South unit of Awami League.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy and Sheikh Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby became councillors for the National Council from Rangpur and Dhaka City North respectively.
Joy’s father late MA Wazed Miah hailed from Rangpur, while Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby lives in an area that falls under the Dhaka City North.
The Awami League’s National Council is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on October 22 and 23.
A total of 168 councillors from Dhaka City South will join the party’s 20th national council, it is reliably learnt.
