Dhaka, October 23: Sheikh Hasina has been unanimously re-elected as the president of Awami League in the party’s 20th council, while Obaidul Quader has been made the new general secretary of the party.
Meanwhile, the amended constitution of Awami League has been passed in its 20th national council to elect leadership of the party.
The constitution was passed by the voice-vote of the councilors attended the councils.
Chairman of constitution amendment committee Dr Abdur Razzak placed it before the councilors around 4:10pm.
In the new constitution, the number of presidium members has been increased to 17 from 13 and size of national committee will be 160.
Apart from this, a 19-member nomination board for finalizing nomination for the local government elections under party symbol has been included in the amended constitution.
