Four minor boy killing: First strangled & then their ribs broken, 2 suspects on 10 day remand

Habiganj, Feb 18: A court in Habiganj on Thursday granted 10-day remand for two suspects- Abdul Ali and his son Jewel, over the sensational four minor-boy murder case in district’s Bahubal upazila.

Police produced the two suspects before the court and Judge Kawsar Alam of Habiganj Magistrate Court passed the order.

Bahubal Police arrested them in their suspected involvement in the murder on Wednesday. Two more persons were also arrested in the incident following day. They are Habibur Rahman and Rubel of the village Sundratiki.

Meanwhile, the physicians found in forensic tests that four schoolboys of village Sundratiki under Bhadeshwar union were first strangled and then their ribs were broken by the murderers.

It was stated by forensic experts in the postmortem reports of four boys.

The postmortem reports were sent to the police from the district civil surgeon office on Thursday morning.

District Civil Surgeon Debabrata Roy said, “The postmortem reports of four boys were sent to the police in the morning. The four boys were first strangled and then their ribs were broken.”

The bodies of four schoolboys were recovered from beneath the sand near their houses at village Sundratiki under Bahubal upazila late Wednesday morning after they went missing on Friday last.

Locals recovered the bodies in presence of the police. They were Zakaria Ahmed Shuvo, 8, son of Wahid Miah and Class II student of Sundratiki Govt Primary School; his two cousins– Tajel Mia, 10, son of Abdul Aziz and a student of Class IV of the same school, Monir Mia, 7, son of Abdal Mia and a student of Class V– and their neighbour Ismail Hossain, 10, son of Abdul Quadir and a student of Sundratiki Madrasa.

The missing boys went to play at a playground near their houses at about 4:30pm on Friday last. As they did not go back to their houses, their guardians were looking for them after the evening. Being failed to find them out, the guardians publicised the news of their missing on Friday night.

Some local labourers went to dig earth at about 11:00am on Wednesday and they smelled bad odour. Afterward, they saw the hand of a boy and leg of another boy. Police was instantly informed about the matter. Later, police went there and recovered the bodies with the help of locals.

The postmortem of four children was conducted at the Habiganj District Sadar Hospital and they were buried at their family graveyards at night.

Bahubal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mosharraf Hossain told reporters that the Habiganj District Detective Branch of police was given the responsibility of investigating the gruesome murders.

Meanwhile, parents and other family members of four children continue to wailing. Relatives and neighbvours thronged the houses from the morning.
