Dhaka, Mar 4: Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 14 persons, including 12 foreign nationals, from the city’s Uttara area on charge of cheating people through social media.
RAB-1 commander Tuhin Mohammad Masud told media that these people were detained after raids at different places including Uttara on Thursday midnight.
The detained members of the international cyber-crime gang was found involved in realising money from people after cheating them through social media including Facebook at different times.
Among the arrestees, eight persons are Nigerian, one Congolese, three Cameron and two Bangladesh nationals.
RAB recovered mobile phone sets, laptop, dollars and Bangladesh Taka from them, he added.
