First namaj-e-janaza of 2 police officials held after postmortem

Dhaka, July 2: Two senior police officers, who were killed in militants’ bomb splinters at Holey Artisan Restaurant at Gulshan, postmortem of their bodies was completed on Saturday.

Meanwhile, their first namaj-e-janaza was held at the city’s Rajarbagh Police Lines at 5:30pm after Asr prayers.

Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch of police of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Rabiul Karim and Banani police station officer-in-charge Salahuddin’s bodies were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 1:00pm.

After postmortem there, Prof Sohel Mahmud of Forensic Medicine Department said they found splinters of bombs in the bodies. They died of profuse bleeding being hit by splinters of bombs.

Sohel Mahmud said many splinters were found throughout the body of Rabiul Karim. One of the splinters pierced through the right side of his chest and created a hole in the lung.

He died of profuse bleeding.
