Dhaka, December 6: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s proposal on to reform Election Commission (EC) has reached to Bangabhaban on Tuesday.
Mainur Rahman, Assistant Military Secretary to the President, received the proposal from a BNP delegation team on Tuesday morning.
The delegation team comprising of the party’s vice-chairman Ruhul Alam Chowdhury and senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed also handed over a letter to him seeking an appointment with the President Abdul Hamid.
Coming out from Bangabhaban Rizvi Ahmed said, “We have handed over a copy of the proposal made by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for reformation of a neutral election commission. We expect that the President will take a proper step to reform a neutral EC.”
However, in a press conference on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ruled out any discussion over the proposal.
