Dhaka, June 25: Another injured in Uttara shopping mall fire incident died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday taking the death toll from the incident to seven.
The deceased is Mahmudul Hasan.
Mahmudul received 80 per cent burn injuries in the incident and he succumbed to his injuries early in the morning, said DMCH burn unit resident surgeon Partha Sankar Pal.
The incident happened when Mahmudul Hasan along with his family members and office colleagues was taking preparation for an iftar party at the basement of the tower.
At least six people were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out at a shopping mall in the capital’s Uttara on Friday evening.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of Alauddin Tower Shopping Complex around 6:15pm and shortly after that an elevator collapsed to the ground, said Fire Service sources.
Three other injured in the incident– Mahmudul Hassan’s 10-year old daughter Mehnaz Hassan Mayesha, his 8-year old son Mustakin Hassan and one Mamun are under treatment at DMCH burn unit.
Their were in critical conditions as they suffered 80, 55, and 23 percent burns to their bodies respectively.
On information, 13 firefighting units rushed in and brought the fire under control around 7:15pm.
The incident left six people dead and around 50 others injured.
