Tangail, April 6: Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Tangail on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against nine persons including local Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Rana including his three brothers and others for killing a freedom fighter.
Judge Md Aminul Islam of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Tangail passed the order after accepting charge sheet against 14 people including Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, MP and his three brothers.
Officer-in-Charge of Tangail DB police Golam Mahfijur Rahman, who is also the investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheets before the court.
Tangail AL leader and freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed was shot dead near his residence on January 18, 2013.
The accused are- Tangail-3 constituency lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan, his three brothers Shahidur Rahman Khan Mukti, former mayor of Tangail municipality, Jahidur Rahman Khan Kakon, former president of Tangail Chamber of Commerce and Saniyat Khan Bappa, former vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
The other five accused are—former commissioner Masud Miah, Chan, Nuru, Sanwar Hossain and Dat Bhanga Babu
The four brothers remain absconding for more than a year after police submitted the charge sheet against them.
Earlier on February 3, mentioning 14 names, the charge sheet was submitted.
On January 22, 2013, Faruk`s wife Nahar Ahmed filed the murder case with Tangail Model Police Station against unidentified criminals.
