Dhaka, April 25: Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman was taken on a 5-day remand in a case filed in connection with a plot to ‘abduct and kill’ Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Monday.
Earlier, senior assistant commissioner of the detective branch (DB) Hasan Arafat, also investigation officer of the case, sought a 10-day remand producing Mahmudur before the court around 12:30pm.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MD Golam Nabi passed the remand order after hearing a petition filed by DB over showing Mahmudur Rahman arrested in the case.
On April 18, a court fixed April 25 for hearing a petition filed by the DB over showing Mahmudur Rahman arrested in the case.
On April 11 in 2013, police arrested Mahmudur rom his Karwan Bazar office on April 11,
Besides, a court on Friday put senior journalist Shafik Rehman on a fresh five-day remand for further interrogation in the case over the alleged plot to abduct and kill Joy.
