Dhaka, May 19: A Dhaka court on Thursday warned that an arrest warrant will be issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia if she does not appear before the court in Zia Charitable graft case on June 2.
Dhaka’s Third Special Court Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar fixed the date and passed the order after hearing on a petition seeking time on Thursday.
Appealing time to court, BNP chief’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia said that “Khaleda Zia is always respectful and loyal to the law and court. She did not appear before the court in Zia Charitable graft case due to her illness”.
In 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case, accusing four persons, including Khaleda Zia, on the charge of abusing power to collect Tk 6.19 crore for Zia Charitable Trust.
