During the period, 1,275 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country’s tally to 3,59,148, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 10,685 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests reached 19,09,460.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Sunday, the epidemic infected 33,094,181 people and killed 999,202 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 24,447,300 across the world.
