Bus-minibus collision kills 11 in Narsingdi


Narsingdi, February 12: At least 11 people were killed and several others were injured in a collision between a bus and a microbus on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Doriakandi area of the district’s Belabo upazila on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred near Darigaon area around 8:30am Sunday, police said.
The victims could not be identified immediately.
According to eyewitness, an Agradut Paribahan bus collided with an opposite-head microbus at Doriakandi area, leaving 11 dead on the spot and several others injured.
The injured were taken to different hospitals including the local upazila health complex in critical condition.
Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of highway police, confirmed the news.
Of the deceased, five are men while four women and two children.
Bad roads, rush driving, poor visibility during winter due to fog and poor condition of vehicles leading to brake failure are said to cause most such accidents.
