Bullet-hit SPBn member Atiqur dies


Dhaka, May 27: A member of special security and protection battalion (SPBn) who received bullet injury while performing duty outside the Gonobhaban, the official resident of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has died on Saturday.

Atiqur Rahman, 28, sustained bullet-injury on Friday midnight and he breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at around 1:45am on Saturday.

However, it was not immediately clear that how he was received bullet injury.

G G Biswas, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, said he came to know the matter from an SPBn man. The SPBn man who died might have sustained bullet injury from his own arm inadvertently. The matter is being investigated.

The body was kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
