BSF shots Bangladeshi national to death in Naogaon


Naogaon, Jan 23: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday killed a Bangladeshi citizen at Adatala border point in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon,

The deceased Joinal Abedin, 40, a cattle trader by profession is son of Sohrab Hossain, a resident of South Patari village of the upazila.

Witness said BSF members from Rangamati camp opened fire at a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders, including Joinal, while they were returning home from India with cattle around 5:30am, leaving Joinal dead on the spot.

Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Hasan, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-14, confirmed the incident.

BGB authorities sent a letter to BSF for holding a flag meeting for returning the Bangladeshi national’s body, he said.
