BSF kills 591 Bangladeshis in last 10 years, home minister tells JS


Dhaka, June 13: The Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) have killed some 591 Bangladesh citizens over the last 10 years.

It was disclosed by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal responding to a question of lawmaker Md Ayenuddin in Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on

The minister said a high-level meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) was held this year.

He said the BSF director general pledged to bring down the number of killings at frontier at zero level.

The Home Minister said a decision was taken at the meeting to investigate the killings at border. It was also decided that action would be taken against the persons responsible after proper investigation.

The minister said the analysis of last 10 years’ statistics reveal that killings of Bangladeshi citizens at border has gone down. “We’re hopeful that it will go down further,” he said.
