Dhaka, February 13: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said that BNP would give a proposal to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for a poll-time government.
“It is not possible to hold a free, fair and credible election without a neutral poll-time government. So, BNP will give a proposal to the PM for a poll-time neutral government,” the party secretary general came up with the assertion while talking to reporters after a joint meeting at Nayapaltan central office in the city.
He said, “The government will have to take responsibility if they do not take initiative for talks after the BNp’s proposal.”
In response to a question over new election commission, Mirza Fakhrul said, “The chief of the new election commission is not competent enough to be a commissioner.”
He added: “BNP will decide later whether they will participate in the next general elections but we took participate in the local government polls earlier and we will do so in the next.”
