BNP leader Sohel sent to jail rejecting bail


Dhaka, October 9: BNP joint secretary general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel sent to jail rejecting his bail petitions in 41 cases on Sunday.

Earlier on the day, the BNP leader surrendered before separate Metropolitan Magistrates’ courts including the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court and sought bail in 41 cases.

The Metropolitan Magistrates’ courts passed the order rejecting his bail petitions in the cases filed for subversive activities.

Of the cases, some 22 cases were filed with Paltan Police Station, three with Motijheel, Jatrabari and Mugda each, two with Darus Salam, Wari and Khilgaon each and one with Ramna, Shahbagh and Mohammadpur each.

Advocate Sanaullah Mia stood for the BNP leader while assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Meras Uddin moved for the state.
