BNP-backed chairman candidate injured by shoting in Gaibandha


Gaibandha, June 3: A BNP-backed chairman candidate of Erendabari union was shot and injured by a group of miscreants at Dakatier Char in Fulchhari upazila on Friday.

Khairul Basahr, officer-in-charge of Fulchhari Police Station, said a group of miscreants stormed the house of BNP-backed chairman candidate Azizur Rahman and opened a shot at him through the window while he was sleeping around 3 am, leaving him injured in a leg.

Hearing screams, local people rushed in and caught four of them and handed them over to BGB.

The arresed are Meser Ali (33) son of Abdur Rashid, Mehedi (22) son of Abdul Alim, Jahangir (22) son of Abdur Rashid and the other offender name could not known immedialtly.

All miscreants are resident of  Erendabari union under Gaibandha

Mehedi and Jahangir are leaders of  Erendabari union of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Meser Ali are accused in several cases including a robbery case.

The injured BNP candidate was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
