Chittagong, June 28: Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, one of the major suspects in Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder case, on Tuesday confessed that he supplied fire arms which were used in the killing in Chittagong.
Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Devdas Bhattacharya made the disclosure in a press conference on Tuesday noon.
Earlier, police have arrested two more suspects including Bhola in connection with the murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of police super Babul Akhter.
The CMP additional chief said, police detained the arms supplier from Razakhali area under Bakolia police station in the port city on Tuesday morning. Later, following his information, two fire arms were recovered from his cohort Monir.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers also detained Bhola`s cohort Monir.
Devdas Bhattacharya also said that the detainee confessed their involvement in supplying arms and handed over to Monir after the murder.
Mitu, 32, was stabbed and shot dead by three men in GEC intersection area in the port city when she took her son to his school bus on June 5, the same day her husband was supposed to report at the Police Headquarters as the newly promoted SP.
Three attackers arriving by motorcycles hacked and fired Mitu and fled away from the spot. Later, Babul Akhter filed a case with Panchlaish Police Station in the port city.
