BGB deployed ahead of Khaleda’s graft verdict


Dhaka, Feb 7: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed across some parts of the country ahead of Wednesday’s graft verdict of Khaleda Zia.Mohsin Reza, Public Relation Officer, BGB Headquarters, confirmed the development.

“The measure was taken upon request of local authorities,” he said.

So far, till last reported, 32 platoons of the force –20 in Dhaka, three in Shirajganj, three in Bogra, three in Narayanganj, one in Noakhali, one in Laxmipur, and another in Chandpur – have been deployed, said Mohsin Reza.

More platoons of BGB will be deployed if necessary, sources at the BGB Headquarters said.

A special court will deliver a graft case verdict against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, amid widespread discussions of the political significance of the verdict and its aftermath.
