Cox’s Bazar, August 27: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday warned Myanmar of “befitting response” if its border guards create any untoward situation in the bordering area following the ongoing unrest in Rakhine State.

“We are the nation of heroes. We are prepared to face any untoward situation if it is created by Myanmar Border Guard Police on the bordering area,” said BGB Director General Major Gen Abul Hossain while addressing a press conference at Ghumdhum Border Observation Post in Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban in the afternoon.

He said over 15,000 BGB members will be deployed in the “troublesome” bordering area to stop Rohingya influx due to the ongoing unrest in Rakhain State of the neighbouring country.

Abul Hossain said, “We are on high alert. We will not allow anyone from Myanmar to intrude into Bangladesh.”

He also visited different bordering areas in Bandarban.
