BCB appoints Shakib-Al-Hasan new T20 captain

Dhaka, April 22: Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was appointed Bangladesh’s Twenty20 skipper.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took the decision in a board meeting on Saturday.

After the meeting, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon made the disclosure.

Earlier, the BCB boss hinted the name of ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as their choice to provide the captain’s arm band.

From now Bangladesh have three captains for three formats.

Mashrafe Mortaza, one of the most successful captain of Bangladesh has announced his retirement from T20Is, leaving the position vacant.

Mushfiqur Rahim is the captain of Test format while Mashrafe remains captain in the ODI cricket.

Shakib was dropped as the Bangladesh captain following the team’s disappointing performance in Zimbabwe in September 2011. Shakib, along with his deputy Tamim Iqbal, paid the price for Bangladesh’s 130-run defeat in the solitary Test in Harare and a 3-2 defeat in the one-day series.
