Sports desk, September 7: Australia beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the 2nd Test in Chittagong to level the two-match series on Thursday.

Chasing 86 for victory on a deteriorating day four pitch, the visitors lost their top three batsmen before Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell steered the team home in the final session.

But it was Lyon who set up the win after claiming a match haul of 13 wickets. His 6-60 helped dismiss Bangladesh for 157 in their second innings.

In chasing a small target of 86 runs set by Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday, the visitors scored 87 runs in just 15.3 overs on the day four.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan and spiner Taijul Islam took a wicket each.

Australia opener David Warner fell early at his 8 runs off 13 balls as Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman struck.

Then, spiner Taijul Islam smashed Australia captain Steve Smith at 16 off 9 balls.

Soon after Taijul, all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan sent back Matt Renshaw at his 22 off 40 balls.

Earlier, Bangladesh scored 305 and 157 runs which set a 86 runs target for Australia to level the two-match series.

In the first innings, Aussies registered 377 runs losing all wickets.

However, Bangladesh beat Aussies in the first match by 20 runs in Dhaka.
