Dhaka, April 25: Bangladesh achieved the fifth position in One Day International (ODI) cricket with 101 points toppling Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka and West Indies, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan has said on his return from the ICC meeting on Monday.
“Bangladesh will not have to play the 2019 World Cup qualifiers,” the BCB President made the disclosure while talking to reporters at his Beximco office at Dhanmondi in the city.
Earlier, Bangladesh (97) was in seventh position on the ICC ODI rankings. Bangladesh have stepped forward though they were not regular in playing one-day cricket due to business in playing T20 cricket during the session.
The ICC is yet to confirm the good news for the Bangladesh cricket fans.
Australia is top of the ranking with 128 points. Three other countries are New Zealand (117), India (115) and South Africa (114).
The change in rating points came as ICC update the list counting total points of each team in last one year with 50 percent points from previous two years.
Bangladesh have been enjoying enormous success in One Day International matches since November 2014.
