AL leader shot dead in Dhaka


Dhaka, June 15: Assailants on Friday gunned down Badda union unit Awami League leader Farhad Hossain near Baitus Salam Jam-e-Mosque at Uttar Badda here, police and hospital sources said.Inspector (Investigation) Nazrul Islam of Badda police station told BSS that two unidentified armed men shot Farhad Hossain, 50, general secretary of Badda union Awami League, soon after he came out of mosque after saying Juma prayers.

“Farhad died on the spot . . . He was shot at a point blank range,” he said, adding police are trying to nab the killers who fled the scene immediately riding a motorcycle.

With four bullet wounds on his body, including head and chest, the victim was rushed to the United General Hospital Limited at Gulshan where the doctors declared him dead.

Police said investigation is going on in this connection.

A case is yet to be filed in this connection.
