Dhaka, August 12: An entire family involved with Awami League (AL) politics sought Prime Minister’s intervention to save their lives from a local AL leader.
“We are helpless. My family is under live threat. Chairman Nuru Mondal threatened us to kill my entire family,” Golam Mahbubur Rahman, vice chairman of Goalanda upazila Parishad, who is also president of Goalanda Poura Awami League told reporters at press conference in city’s Jatiya Press Club on Friday.
He alleged that Nazrul Islam Mondal alias Nuru Mondal, chairman of Daulatdia Union Parishad under Rajbari district involved with various crimes like toll collection, drug business, women and children trafficking.
The local administration including law enforcing agencies didn’t take any action against Nuru Mondal despite publishing reports in various newspapers including popular investigating TV programme ‘Talas’ on the Independent, Rahman alleged.
“My children stop to going school for the last two weeks. I am with my family members now leading hide and seek life due to our live threat from Nuru Mondal. We seek prime minister’s intervention and requested her for taking legal action against listed top terror Nuru Mondal and others,” Golam Mahbubur Rahman said.
Applications have been submitted to Prime Minister, home minister, IGP and DG RAB against listed terror Nuru Mondal including his associates Tofazzal Hossain Topu, Tomser, Julhas Molla, Ashraf, Harun Molla, Kaddus Molla, Token Sarder, Rubel, Tutul, Ayub member, Halim, hatkata Musa and killer Farid, the vice-chairman alleged.
When asked any complaint lodged with district level leader, Golam Mahbubur Rahman replied, “yes, I have informed the matter to district AL president Jillul Hakim, MP. But they are yet to take any action against Nuru Mondal and his associates.”
When contacted Jillul Hakim, MP over phone, he told themorningbellbd.com that he is yet to get such complaint.
“So far as I know Golam Mahbubur Rahman is a good person. There may be political rivalry between them. But, I will suggest to lodge written complain. Action would be taken as party constitution,” Jillul Hakim, MP said in reply to a query.
This correspondent failed to reach Nuru Mondal for his comments despite repeated try to communicate with him.
