Jhenidah, April 8: A man was killed and 20 others injured in a clash between two rival groups at village Chhoyal to establish supremacy under Sadar upazila on Friday morning.
Akamot Mir, 58, son of Belayet Mir of village Chhoyal killed during the clash. The injured were sent to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Jhenidah Sadar police station Hasan Hafizur Rahman said two Awami League leaders Ismail and Majnu had loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the locality.
As a sequel to the enmity, supporters of both the groups locked in an altercation in the morning.
At one stage, they equipped with sharp native weapons and sticks attacked each other, leaving 20 people injured, including Akamot Mir injured to death.
The injured all were the activists of Awami League or supporters, the OC said.
Later police dispersed them.
