ACC arrests a customs officer held for possessing illegal wealth in Ctg


Chittagong, May 19: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) officials arrested a customs intelligence officer from Agrabad area in Chittagong for accumulating wealth illegally.

Momin Mazumder, a customs intelligence officer, was arrested on Friday morning from Agrabad area. He was later handed over to the Double Mooring Police Station.

He now works at the Gulshan Zone of Customs intelligence unit in Dhaka.

ACC filed a case against Momin Mazumder and his wife Selina Zaman with Comilla’s Kotwali Police Station for acquiring wealth over Tk 1.26 crore illegally and concealing information about the wealth worth Tk 40.23 lakh, said Mosharraf Hossain Mridha, deputy director of ACC (Chittagong Zone).

Sadhan Chandra Sutradhar, deputy assistant director of the ACC, said Selina Zaman does not have any legal earning source. But, she possesses wealth worth over Tk 1.25 crore. She concealed the information of wealth worth Tk 50 lakh in the description she submitted to the ACC. Husband Momin Mazumder assisted his wife to accumulate the wealth.

The ACC official said they are trying their best to arrest customs official Abdul Momin’s wife Selina Zaman.
