7 killed, 30 injured in Tangail


Themorningbellbd.com desk, May 3: At least seven people were killed when a passenger bus belonging to ‘Binimoy Paribahan’ plunged into a roadside ditch at Ghatail on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway in Tangail on Tuesday night.

About 30 people were injured.

Tangail Fire Services’ deputy director Monir Hossain said the accident happened at about 10:00pm at Gungram area under Ghatail upazila.

He said the identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

Monir Hossain said the Dhanbari-bound passenger bus from Dhaka, belonging to ‘Binimoy Paribahan’ lost control while overtaking another passenger bus at Gungram area under Ghatail upazila on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway at about 10:00pm. At that time, the bus plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving seven passengers of the bus dead on the spot and 25 others injured.

The injured were admitted to Ghatail Upazila Health Complex.
