5 killed Ctg’s Mirsharai road crash


  Chittagong, September 24: At least five people were killed and 10 other injured in a road accident at the district’s Mirsharai upazila on Saturday morning.

 The accident took place around 7.00am in front of Mirsharai Filling Station on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Sub-inspector of Mirsharai Highway Police Station Farid Uddin confirmed the matter.

Farid Uddin said a Chittagong-bound bus from Dhaka stood on the road to get off passengers.  But a covered-van had plunged into the road side ditch before it hit the bus as driver lost control over.

Helper of the bus and three passengers of the covered van and its helper died on the spot. The 10 injured are the passengers of the bus.

Three deceased were identified as Soyedur Rahman (50), general manager of Karnuphuli Paper Mills (KPM), Susmita Sen (32) and Khalilur Rahman (35).

Identities of the helpers could not be identified immediately.
