Barisal, May 21: Five people were killed, including two women, leaving thousand injured putting them into endless sufferings following the damage of their houses in Bhola, Patuakhlai and Chittagong early Saturday as cyclone Roanu approaches Bangladesh coast.
The cyclonic storm is expected to hit Chittagong-Barisal region by (Today) Saturday noon.
The deceased were identified as Akram Hossain, 45, and Rekha Begum, 35, were crushed under fallen trees in Bhola,. They both were residents of Shashiganj village of Tajumuddin upazila.
Another deceased is Naya Bibi, 50, a resident of Dashmina upazila of Patuakhali.
Over thousand people were injured in stormy weather across the island district of Bhola.
Over three hundred business establishments also were damaged at Shashiganj bazaar in Tajumuddin upazila in stormy weather while hundreds of houses were collapsed across the district.
Asset worth several crores of taka were damaged already in the market place, stakeholders said.
Rain with gusty wind showered places of the country including the capital city with the intensifying of Roanu in the Bay.
