Dhaka, July 28: A total 44 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed in three city corporations—Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet—to avert any untoward incident during the elections to the corporations.Of them, 15 platoons of BGB members have been deployed in Rajshahi, 15 platoons in Barisal and 14 platoons in Sylhet cities.
BGB Headquarters’ Public Relations Officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter on Saturday noon.
The border guards were deployed at different parts of the cities in the morning to avert any untoward incident during the election, Mohsin Reza said.
Additional four platoons will work as reserve force, he added.
The authorities have deployed BGB to assist the administration and they will remain deployed until July 31.
The city corporation polls will be held in Rajshahi, Barisal, and Sylhet on July 30.
