4 people died in three separate road accidents in Gazipur


Gazipur, Oct 6: At least four people were killed in Gazipur early on Tuesday in three separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway and the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.

A bus-truck head on collision in Kaliyakoir Upazila left two dead while two other people killed in Mawna on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

According to police, around 6:15am, a Dhaka bound bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the highway connecting to Tangail in Kaliyakoir.

Gorai police OC Humayun Kabir said the accident left a passenger of the bus dead on the spot and another died while being taken to the hospital. At least five others have been injured.

Meanwhile, two people died in separate road mishaps on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, said Mawna Highway Police OC Md Helal ul Islam.

Quoting witnesses, the police officer said that a bus ran over a pedestrian—identified as Rajendra Barman— at Bhabanipur of Gazipur around 7:00am.

Around 5:30am, a Gazipur bound bus lost control and hit the road divider before overturning leaving the driver’s assistant killed, said OC Islam.
