Comilla, December 23: At least six people were killed in three separate road accidents in Comilla on Friday.
The road accidents happened between early in the morning and 10:00am on Friday at the district sadar and Dharmatola in Chouddagram upazila.
Police and local sources said four people were killed in a road accident near Chandu Hotel at Doyapur area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Comilla Sadar Dakkhin Police Station in the district at about 5:00am on Friday, leaving four people dead on the spot.
Comilla Sadar Dakkhin Police Station OC Nazrul Islam said a speeding truck rammed a poultry-laden pick-up on the rear side. At that time, four persons who were on board the pick-up fell on the road and died on the spot.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Their bodies were sent to the Comilla Medical College Hospital.
On the other hand, a pedestrian was killed being hit by a Dhaka-bound truck when he was crossing road on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway near Cantonment Bazar under Comilla Sadar Police Station at about 9:30am.
Besides, another road accident took place at Dolpara under Chowddagram in Comilla district. Police said a woman was killed being hit by a Chittagong-bound covered van when she was crossing the road at Dolpara area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
