Rajshahi, May 17: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) on Tuesday claimed that they arrested four activists of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) who were directly involved with Rajshahi University Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee killing.
“The four JMB men arrested on Monday. Of them, Maskawat Hasan alias Sakib alias Abdullah, JMB operational commander of Rajshahi region, confessed to his involvement in the killing,” RMP Commissioner Md Shamsuddin told reporters at a press conference at RMP Headquarters.
The commissioner, however, did not disclose the names of three other arrestees. The law enforcers have so far arrested seven people in connection with the killing.
Shamsuddin also said the names of the three other arrestees were not disclosed for the sake of the proper investigation into the case.
