37pc construction work of PMB completed


Dhaka, August 8: Construction work of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge (PMB) has already been completed around 37 percent and work is going on to complete the construction of the mega project on time.

Two major works of the bridge- setting up the main piles of Padma Bridge and construction of approach roads-began on Monday morning.

An agreement will be signed on the construction work of the rail link of Padma Bridge on Monday afternoon.

According to sources, work is going on with an aim that both the buses and trains will run through Padma Bridge in 2018. The 42-km rail track from Mawa to Bhnga will be completed by this time.’

Construction of the rail link through Padma Bridge will begin in January next. The railways ministry will construct 82-km rail track from Dhaka to Bhanga of Faridpur district via Fatullah of Narayanganj district.

The rail communication will also connect Jessore soon and it will also be established in Barisal in future.
