Tangail, May 1: Police arrested three persons and filed two cases against three unidentified people with Gopalpur Police Station under Tangail district over the killing of a tailor Nikhil Chandra Joarder.
Arati Joarder, wife of the 50-year-old victim, filed a case with the police station on Saturday night, while another case was filed by police with the same police station.
Officer-in-Charge of Gopalpur Police Sation Abdul Jalil confirmed that the cases were filed against three unidentified people.
On Saturday noon, three assailants by a motorcycle dragged out the Hindu tailor from his shop and hacked him to death in broad daylight.
In the meantime, according to the US-based monitoring service SITE, Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the murder.
The attack came days after a gay rights activist and his friend were killed in their apartment in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi.
