Dhaka, August 06: Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested three people for allegedly spreading rumours on social media following the students’ movement for safer roads.A team of CTTC in separate drives arrested them from different parts in the capital in the wee hours of Monday.
The arrestees are are Mahbubur Rahman Arman, 30, Alamgir Hossain, 27 and Sydul Islam, 31.
Mobile phones, laptops and memory cards were recovered from their possession.
Nazmul Islam, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Cyber Crime Unit of Police, confirmed the matter to media.
On July 29, two students- Abdul Karim, 16, and Diya, 15, of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed when a speedy bus rammed them on Airport Road of the capital city.
The incident triggered mass protest among students and they have been continuing the demonstration in demand of safe roads and justice.
