‘3 militants’ killed in C’nawabganj drive


Rajshahi, November 28: Three suspected militants were killed during a drive in a militant den conducted by members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Char Alatulivillage of ChapainawabganjSadar upazila early Tuesday, reports UNB.

Mufti Mahmud,director of Rab (Media wing) said that on secret information a team of Rab cordoned off the abandoned house owned by Rashikul Islam at the village from 4:00 am.

When the Rab members asked the militants to surrender, they opened fire and threw grenade to the elite forces which prompted them to retaliate back.

The militants exploded several bombs around 5:00 am.

A fire broke out at the house following the bomb explosion, said the Rab official.

Mufti Mahmudsaid that they are suspecting that there are two bodies inside the house.

A 12-member bomb disposal team of Rab from Rajshahi reached the spot around 10:30am.

Later, they entered the house.

A SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) team from Dhaka is on way to the spot, said Mufti Mahmud.

Meanwhile, the elite force detained house owner Rashikul, his wife Nazma and father-in-law KhorshedAlam from Sabdipur area in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district for interrogation.

Local sources said Rashidul Islam, who has been suffering from cancer, did not stay in the house for long time. They also heard the sound of bullets and explosions around 4:30am and saw flames in the house.
