Dhaka, Feb 15: People from different quarter filed a total of 13 cases against The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam on Sunday at different courts across the country including the Dhaka CMM court.
The cases were filed for publishing ‘confusing’ and ‘defamatory’ reports in his English daily newspaper about Awami League President Sheikh Hasina during the 2007-08 military-backed caretaker regime which were subsequently used to send her to jail.
The cases comprised 10 defamatory cases, two sedition cases and one conspiracy related case.
Of the cases, three were filed against Mahfuz Anam in Shariatpur, two in Sylhet and two in Khulna, one in Netrokona, Rangamati, Jamalpur and Dinajpur districts. With these, a total of 17 cases were filed against Mahfuz Anam.
