Bogra, June 3: At least 10 people were killed and 25 other injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Bogra’s Sherpur Upazila on the Dhaka-Bogra highway on Friday morning.
Seven of the injured were sent to the Sherpur Upazila Health Complex and 14 others to Bogra’s Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH). Of the injured, seven are in critical condition.
The deceased were not identified immediately.
According to Sherpur police officer-in-charge Khan Md Erfan, the accident took place around 6:00am on Friday in front of the Pentagon Hotel on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway in Dhankundi area.
OC Erfan said seven of the passengers of the Bogra-bound bus had died on the spot, as the vehicle collided with a Sirajganj-bound truck.
Local inhabitants, police and Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to the hospitals.
Sherpur Fire Service Officer Sohel Rana said the injured were sent to hospitals for treatment.
The accident halted vehicular movement through the area for about an hour, leading to a traffic jam.
